The Netherlands is providing more than one billion euros for 155-millimeter artillery ammunition to support Ukraine in its defensive campaign against Russia (-> current news from the Ukraine war) have been made available. In addition, further aid worth around two billion euros was realized in the last quarter of last year, including F-16 fighter jets (-> F-16s have officially arrived in Ukraine) and drones.

This brings the Netherlands’ total military support for Ukraine to almost six billion euros, including material goods and (co-)financing. This was announced by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans at the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, in which more than 50 countries are participating.

Minister Brekelmans said: “This is a new milestone in our unwavering support for Ukraine. Ukraine urgently needs this help to stop Russian aggression and gain the upper hand on the battlefield. Ukrainians are not only fighting for their own freedom and security, but also keeping Russia at a distance for the rest of Europe. Therefore, our support remains essential.”

To mark the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine, the Dutch Ministry of Defense will publish an updated overview of the support provided to Ukraine on its website.
