At the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin at the beginning of June, MBDA will be showcasing current and future weapon systems for the German Armed Forces and allied armed forces. This year’s focus will be on drone defense, stand-off precision weapon systems and real-time simulation of remote carriers in the FCAS network. The company will be presenting around 50 exhibits, product and virtual reality demonstrations.
In addition to its own stand, where current products and developments will be on display, MBDA will have other stands with other companies, such as a joint stand with Raytheon under the auspices of the German Armed Forces, where the Patriot air defense system will be on display. Guided missiles for the Eurofighter will also be on display there. MBDA will also be exhibiting together with Airbus Defence and Space will present its contribution to remote carrier technology, which is a central part of the FCAS system, at the FCAS Chalet. With Rheinmetall MBDA will jointly present its laser weapon demonstrator for the German Navy. https://militaeraktuell.at/panther24-jaegerbataillon_17_uebung_allentsteig/
MBDA highlights at the ILA:
- Ground-based air defense
MBDA will be presenting solutions and concepts for ground-based air defense in various altitude and range bands at the trade fair. A new, small and inexpensive guided missile for drone defense will be in the foreground at close range. The missile will be on display at the stand in conjunction with the Skyranger 30 system turret. COMLOG, a joint venture between MBDA and Raytheon, will be exhibiting the Patriot PAC-2 GEM-T missile for ground-based air defense in the next higher interception range. Together with Israel Aerospace Industry (IAI), MBDA is also showing the missile that will be used in the Arrow Weapon System in the future. - Weaponization of flying platforms
Within the FCAS project, MBDA is developing remote carriers as part of the international program. Together with the Next Generation Fighter and the collaborative network environment, the Combat Cloud, they form the Next Generation Weapon System in FCAS. The company is also involved in the cross-industry FCAS pavilion with the Remote Carrier. For airborne platforms, MBDA will also be exhibiting products such as the Taurus stand-off guided missile, the Meteor air-to-air missile, the Marie maritime target missile developed for the Navy for the NH 90 and the Brimstone and Spear air-to-ground weapons. MBDA will be showing the armament for the Eurofighter both at its own stand and in the Military Support Center.
- Heer
Together with KNDS Germany (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Nexter Defense Systems), MBDA is also presenting a possible solution for the “Future Indirect Fire System”. The new artillery guided missile system Joint Fire Support Missile (JFS-M) can be configured as required and deployed in the areas of action, reconnaissance, active and passive electronic warfare and as a training variant. Together with IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries), MBDA is also presenting the Rotem-L and Mini Harpy loitering ammunition systems. Rotem is based on a lightweight multi-rotor platform and has proven itself for use against low-signature systems. The Mini Harpy ammunition can be used to take out enemy air defenses, for example. Modern lasers, hypersonic weapons and the Enforcer small missile will also be on display at the company’s own stand.
