MBDA and Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) have reached an agreement to deepen their cooperation. Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will explore the integration of new MBDA weapon systems into KAI platforms and export opportunities for the products as part of a joint marketing concept. The agreement was signed on November 20th by Chris Allam, Managing Director of MBDA UK, and Kang Goo-young, CEO of KAI, in London during a Korean state visit to the UK.
Commenting on the agreement, Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, said: “MBDA’s products and technologies, combined with KAI’s ability to rapidly develop and deliver new platforms, will open up new opportunities for us in the defense market worldwide. The collaboration reflects the shared values and interests of both parties.” https://militaeraktuell.at/muessen-wir-uns-vor-brics-fuerchten/ Kang Goo-young also commented: “The global demand for various defense products has increased. We will work with MBDA to provide our customers with the best domestically produced fighter aircraft.” MBDA is already working with KAI on the integration of MBDA’s Meteor air-to-air missile into the KF-21 Boromae fighter aircraft. New areas of cooperation to be explored under the new agreement include the integration of new MBDA weapons such as SPEAR, ASRAAM and Brimstone into KAI platforms such as KF-21 and FA-50, as well as the export of the aforementioned platforms and missiles.
