At the end of last year the first new AW169 of the Austrian Armed Forces landed in AustriaA few days ago, the Italian Italian manufacturer Leonardo handed over the fifth aircraft to the red-white-red air force.
After being cleared for flight operations, the aircraft was, according to the Austrian Armed Forces was transferred from Vergiate in Italy to the Fiala-Fernbrugg air base in Aigen in Ennstal. It landed there last Saturday at 1.45 p.m. and is now being integrated into training flight operations.
The Austrian Armed Forces are also expecting delivery of the sixth aircraft this year. A total of 36 AW169s were ordered as part of a government-to-government deal with Italy. Of these the first 18 aircraft were ordered almost two years agoAt the end of last year, the Ministry of Defense then decided to exercise an option anchored in the original contract to purchase 18 additional aircraft.
