The Air Support Command supplies the Austrian soldiers on missions abroad (-> current reports from missions abroad) – including those “blue helmets” in Lebanon. Just last week, the C-130 Hercules took off for Beirut once again to supply the Austrian soldiers deployed as part of the UN mission UNIFIL – despite the tense security situation in the region.

The largest aircraft of the Austrian Armed Forces is therefore regarded as the “umbilical cord” for our soldiers deployed around the world. They affectionately refer to the aircraft as “Herky”.
