The German sensor solution provider Hensoldt and Czech passive radar specialist Era have announced a strategic partnership to further develop air surveillance and air defense capabilities. The primary objective of the partnership is to offer the Vera-NG passive surveillance system to the German Air Force as part of a cooperative approach.

Based on their respective expertise, Hensoldt and Era will develop an integrated infrastructure solution in which the Vera-NG system from Era and the Twinvis passive radar from Hensoldt are technologically merged. The additional data collected by the system network can be merged into a highly integrated air situation picture.
According to a recent press release from the two companies, the two technologies complement each other perfectly: “Vera-NG detects active emissions from hostile objects at long range, while the Twinvis passive radar does not require any active signals at all for target detection at shorter ranges,” it says in a recent press release.
