On May 27, the ceremonial handover of command of the Army NCO Academy (HUAk) took place in the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner. After almost nine years in charge of the NCO Academy, Brigadier Nikolaus Egger handed over command to Colonel of the General Staff Klaus Klingenschmid. The ceremony took place in the Towarek school barracks in Enns.
“I would like to thank Brigadier Egger for his prudent leadership and further development of the Army NCO Academy. He has significantly advanced the educational mission for future non-commissioned officers. I wish Colonel Klingenschmid all the best and every success in his new role! I am sure that he will lead this competence center excellently and that he will be able to optimally integrate his many years of experience in the field of training into his new role,” said Defense Minister Tanner.
Colonel of the General Staff Klaus Klingenschmid was born in Hall, Tyrol, and joined the Austrian Armed Forces as a one-year volunteer in 1997. He graduated from the Theresian Military Academy and was commissioned as an armored infantryman in 2001 to the 13th Armored Infantry Battalion in Ried im Innkreis. From 2007 to 2010, he took part in the 18th General Staff Course and carried out several missions abroad during his military career. Most recently, he worked in the Ministry in the training department. He is married and has three children.
The Army NCO Academy in Enns is responsible for the basic, advanced and further training of NCOs in the Austrian Armed Forces to become future leaders. Since 1995, the Army NCO Academy has trained more than 55,000 graduates in 60 specialist areas.
