The German Air Force has set up a temporary air transport base in Tbilisi (Georgia). This hub will support the repatriation of personnel under the responsibility of the German Armed Forces Operations Command from June.
On June 10, German soldiers who had completed their deployment were flown out of Afghanistan to Georgia for the first time using A400M air force transport aircraft. The proximity of the temporary air transport base in Tbilisi to the area of operations in Afghanistan makes it possible to act flexibly and effectively support the withdrawal of the German Resolute Support (RS) contingent from Afghanistan.
