FN Herstal presents a new weapon in the field of less lethal kinetic energy systems at the Milipol trade fair in Paris in mid-November. The new FN Smart Protector-303T recognizes human heads to drastically reduce the risk of serious and potentially irreversible injuries.
The FN Smart Protector-303T can be used by law enforcement agencies when the use of lethal force must be avoided, such as during crowd control, social unrest, riots, daily patrols and public safety operations at large events.
The weapon’s projectiles are accurate enough to target a person, break apart on impact to prevent penetration, but still have a highly deterrent effect comparable to that of a baton and beyond the range of hand-thrown projectiles. The FN Smart Protector-303T is the first stage of an appropriate response to an unarmed threat. In addition, the camera also records the images, providing valuable data for subsequent review or forensic investigations. An integrated electro-optical solution, consisting of a camera and image processing software, detects human heads in real time and provides audible and visual warnings to the user. Furthermore, an automatic trigger blocking mechanism provides additional safety. The battery has a runtime of five to twelve hours, depending on use, and has an automatic sleep mode to reduce power consumption.
