At the DSEI arms fair taking place in London next week Saab next to its new Giraffe 1X Deployment Set Saab will also be presenting the RBS 70 NG Mobile Firing Unit (MFU) equipped with missiles on an Oshkosh Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV).
This is Saab’s response to the growing requirements for mobile air defense. Saab’s built-in MFU uses the RBS 70 NG missile system with laser-guided missiles. This allows threats to be countered with little warning time and even fewer options for countermeasures.
“We are ready to support Oshkosh’s existing customers and offer this solution to new users as well.
”
Görgen Johansson, Leiter des Geschäftsbereichs Dynamics von Saab.
The fully integrated multispectral Barracuda Mobile Camouflage System also camouflages the vehicle and enables rapid deployment of the JLTV against airborne targets if required. In June 2022, a partnership between Saab and Oshkosh Defense was announced that focuses on just that. https://militaeraktuell.at/fn-herstal-launcht-neue-waffenschnittstelle/ “We now offer the most advanced mobile air defense solution that fits perfectly with our existing multispectral camouflage capabilities of the JLTV vehicle. We are ready to support Oshkosh’s existing customers and offer this solution to new users as well,” says Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab’s Dynamics business area. The tactical electronics and low-latency video distribution system provided by Saab will support the crew by improving situational awareness on the battlefield.
