Jorge Tamarit Degenhardt was appointed CEO of Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbHthe management company for the Eurofighter Typhoon. The German-Spanish dual national comes from Airbus Defense & Space to Eurofighter, where he has held several international management positions over the past two decades.
His appointment is part of the three-year rotation policy of the Eurofighter partner companies. He succeeds Giancarlo Mezzanatto, who has joined the Italian defense contractor Leonardo is returning to the Italian armaments company Leonardo.
Richard Hamilton, Chairman of the Eurofighter Supervisory Board, said: “On behalf of the Supervisory Board, we are delighted to welcome Jorge to Eurofighter as the new Chief Executive Officer. Jorge brings a wealth of leadership experience to the company – both from the defense industry and the Eurofighter program – which will be of great value as further orders are placed and more Typhoon aircraft are delivered over the coming years.”
Hamilton continued: “We would like to thank Giancarlo Mezzanatto for his efforts. Giancarlo’s leadership has brought many successes to the program and we wish him all the best in his return to Leonardo.”
Jorge Tamarit Degenhardt most recently served as Program Manager for Spain and also led the Airbus C295 program for India, where he oversaw the largest C295 contract in history and built India’s first private sector end-to-end aerospace and defense production system.

Degenhardt will be accompanied on the Management Board by Andy Kendall (Chief Operating Officer Programs, BAE Systems), Cristiano Montrucchio (Chief Operating Officer Capabilities Sustainment and Future Enhancement, Leonardo), Thomas Reinartz (Chief Financial and Commercial Officer, Airbus Defense & Space), Giammarco Quaglia (Director Business Support, already in office), and Stephan Miegel (Transition Director).
