On October 4, the ceremonial handover of command of the Army Logistics School in the Vega-Payer-Weyprecht barracks took place on Tradition Day in the presence of Chief of the General Staff Rudolf Striedinger. The previous school commander and logistics expert, Brigadier Stefan Lampl, handed over command to his successor, Colonel of the General Staff Siegfried Skudnigg.

“Functioning logistics is the prerequisite for successful operational command. The fact that the Army Logistics School provides training at the highest level is demonstrated by our operations in an international environment. Currently, our logistics contingent at UNIFIL in Lebanon is operating under difficult conditions (-> current news from the Armed Forces’ missions abroad) and the planned logistics contingent as part of the EU Battlegroup 2025″, said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner. https://militaeraktuell.at/embraer-auch-tschechien-fixiert-c-390m-kauf/ The Minister continued: “I would like to thank the outgoing commander, Brigadier Stefan Lampl, for his prudent and mission-oriented command and wish the new commander, Colonel of the General Staff Service Siegfried Skudnigg, all the best in his new role.”

Numerous soldiers, civilian staff and former employees of all institutes of the Army Logistics School gathered on the parade ground of the Vega-Payer-Weyprecht barracks to take part in the handover of command. International visitors had traveled to say goodbye to Brigadier Lampl in person and to congratulate the new commander, Colonel of the General Staff Siegfried Skudnigg, in his new role. “My main focus in leading the Army Logistics School will be to focus on the needs of military national defense in the ‘2032+ development plan’,” the new school commander stated in his speech. Colonel of the General Staff Service Skudnigg joined the air force in 1996 before completing the Military Academy from 1998 to 2002 and the diploma course in Higher Leadership from 2007 to 2010 to become a General Staff Officer. A deployment abroad in Kosovo as commander of the “Joint Logistic Support Group” with KFOR as well as a foreign assignment in the EU Military Staff in Brussels and the management of the Armed Forces Military Medical Center led the now 49-year-old through numerous national and international logistics functions before taking command of the Army Logistics School.
