A completely renovated accommodation and training building, Object 19, has now been officially opened at Brumowski Air Base in the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.

At a total cost of around ten million euros, the 80-year-old building was dismantled to shell level in a construction period of less than two years and then completely rebuilt. High-quality accommodation was created for the course participants of the air force and air defense troop school, and there is now also a high-quality training hall area on the upper floor. In addition, 235,000 euros were spent on furnishings, shelving systems and building equipment, among other things.

Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner was impressed by the new building: “We are investing a total of eleven million euros in the expansion and modernization of the airbase in Langenlebarn.”

“With 23 barracks and 5,367 soldiers, Lower Austria is an extremely strong and important military location,” said Minister Klaudia Tanner. “Now it is to become even stronger. The barracks are being modernized and expanded and the troops are also being strengthened. A modern army needs a modern infrastructure,” said Tanner. “In the previous year, around 21.39 million euros were invested in the realization of construction projects and 15.79 million euros are planned for this year. The airbase in Langenlebarn will be expanded and renovated by eleven million euros,” the Federal Minister informed. “The newly opened facility at the Langenlebarn garrison will train the future elite of aviation here in Lower Austria,” said Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. “There is a modern infrastructure here with an excellent living and working environment,” she continued. “The students and soldiers as well as the entire location benefit from these investments. The airbase and the air force and air defense school secure over 700 jobs in the region. This central training facility for air forces fits seamlessly into the Tulln education and research location,” emphasized Leitner. The Austrian Armed Forces enjoy the highest recognition in Tulln, in the region, in Lower Austria and far beyond the borders of our republic, said the Governor. The Brumowski airbase is the main base of the air support squadron. Langenlebarn is also home to the Air Force and Air Defense School, Fliegerwerft 1 and the Federal College of Aviation Technology. Around 700 recruits receive their training in Langenlebarn every year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lofx75pHNG0&feature=emb_title
