As of today, Friday, the army in Biberbach in the district of Amstetten (-> current news from the assistance operations of the Austrian Armed Forces). Following the outbreak of bird flu, soldiers from the decontamination group of the Korneuburg NBC defense company are helping to contain the virus.
A sluice is set up at affected farms for this purpose: Before the vehicles that dispose of the dead animals leave the infected farm, they are disinfected by the soldiers in the airlock. This is intended to prevent the disease from spreading further. The assistance mission is expected to last until Sunday.

I would like to express my great thanks and respect to all those who are helping to prevent the further spread of avian flu.”
Following the current outbreak of bird flu, thousands of animals have died or had to be killed due to the disease. To prevent further contamination, the soldiers from the NBC Defense Center in Korneuburg are on duty. In the airlock, the wheel arches and underbodies of the vehicles, as well as the containers in which the dead animals are transported, are disinfected.

The soldiers of the NBC defense force protect against NBC attacks – these are nuclear, biological and chemical attacks. If necessary, they are also deployed in the event of earthquakes, chemical accidents, epidemics or environmental pollution.
At the request of the authorities, the Armed Forces are deployed to assist and support civilian emergency services. In the event of major disasters, several thousand helpers can provide assistance to people in Austria at the same time.
