Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has once again achieved a significant sales success in Austria. The company has won an additional tendered lot of logistics vehicles for the Austrian Armed Forces army. A corresponding extension of the existing framework agreement with Bundesbeschaffung GmbH Wien (BBG) provides for the delivery of up to 300 vehicles, primarily from the HX vehicle family.
The contract extension for the lot that has now been won has a term of 48 months and offers the possibility of flexible call-offs of vehicles worth more than 300 million euros. In the spring of 2023 Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles won all six military lots in a tender for a total of 23 truck lots. The existing framework agreement concluded as a result is set to run for seven years and provides for the delivery of up to 1,375 vehicles from the HX, TGS and TGM series. The potential order volume is originally up to 525 million euros. The award of the additional lot increases the framework contract volume for Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles to more than 825 million euros. The Austrian Minister of Defense, Klaudia Tanner, recently visited the plant in Vienna-Liesing. Minister Tanner praised the work of the Viennese workforce: “I am impressed by the high level of professionalism at work here. And I am pleased that the Austrian armed forces have such a reliable partner at their side in RMMV.” https://militaeraktuell.at/saab-experte-es-geht-nichts-ueber-praezision/ “The extension of the framework agreement with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH is another strong signal for the modernization of the Austrian Armed Forces, but also for the Austrian economy in particular,” says Michael Wittlinger, Managing Director of RMMV. “We are proud that our site in Vienna-Liesing not only creates Austrian added value, but also makes a significant contribution to the resilience, self-sufficiency and sustainability of the Austrian Armed Forces.” The Austrian Armed Forces have been a very good customer of RMMV for many years. Various vehicles from the TGM, TGS and HX series are already being used successfully. In the first half of 2023, an order for 850 TGMs with a crew cab and swap body system and 15 HX81 armored tractors including an eight-axle semi-trailer was placed under the new framework agreement. In addition, vehicles from the HX series with three-sided tipper body and rear crane as well as vehicles from the TGS 8×8 series with Palfinger hook system are in the delivery pipeline for the coming years. At the end of 2021, the Austrian Armed Forces also ordered the “Integrated Armored Cabin”. It can be fitted to the existing HX series vehicles within a very short time, depending on requirements.
