From September 23 to 27, the soldiers of the NBC Defence Company of the NBC Defence Center were the focus of an evaluation at the Tritolwerk training area. International experts accompanied the review and praised the unit’s performance.
Putting it through its paces
The evaluation lasted a week, during which the soldiers were put through their paces. The focus was on the ability to recognize, assess and deal with nuclear, biological and chemical threats (NBC threats). These specialized scenarios are among the most demanding areas of the military operational spectrum. During intensive training units and realistic deployment scenarios, the soldiers of the Austrian Armed Forces have demonstrated their expertise and shown that they are ready to respond to any dangerous situation. Realistic application scenarios
The Tritolwerk training ground provided the ideal backdrop for realistic deployment scenarios: The soldiers demonstrated their expertise in a series of simulated hazardous situations, including the implementation of decontamination measures, the safe handling of hazardous substances and the use of protective equipment and measurement technology.
Specialists in the defense against NBC threats
The exercise was accompanied by international experts from various NATO-partner countries, all specialists in the defense against NBC threats, who provided valuable feedback and assessments on the performance of the Austrian NBC defense forces. The successful evaluation strengthens the position of the NBC defense company as an integral part of national and international security structures and shows “that the Austrian Armed Forces are optimally prepared for NBC threats”, as stated in a recent press release.
