The Austrian Armed Forces are looking for interested young men and women throughout Austria for a wide range of apprenticeships starting in September 2023. The focus here is primarily on the federal states of Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Vienna: from catering, saddlery or electrical engineering to aircraft technology and administrative assistance. This year, special attention is also being paid to apprenticeships in Upper Austria in the areas of operational logistics and administrative assistance.
“The Austrian Armed Forces is one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in the public sector. More than 40 different apprenticeships are offered in 35 training positions, giving interested young men and women the chance to train and the tools to prepare for their personal future,” said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner. “Fortunately, we have been able to fill almost all apprenticeship positions in the past and are confident that we will be able to accept a high number of applications this year too. We look forward to welcoming many different personalities who want to become part of our army.” Extensive range of apprenticeships available in the Armed Forces
The Armed Forces offer young people the opportunity to learn very special professions. In addition to the fields of electronics, forestry and hunting, the Armed Forces are also looking for apprentices in aircraft technology and as saddlers. There is also a choice of traditional apprenticeships in the catering industry. As efficient logistics are very important in the Armed Forces, apprentices are urgently needed in the fields of operational logistics, IT technology, automotive engineering and metal technology. Current figures
There are currently a total of 250 apprentices in the Austrian Armed Forces nationwide, 82 women and 168 men. Apprenticeships with the largest proportion of young women are apprenticeships as administrative assistants, aircraft technicians or operational logistics clerks. Among the men, it is the apprenticeships for operational logistics clerk, aircraft technician and electronics technician. Application procedure
Applicants take part in a theoretical apprenticeship test at two test centers of the Army Personnel Office in Vienna and Wels. After a successful test, interested candidates are invited to a practical test by the training center for the apprenticeship. After a positive application process, the apprentices start their apprenticeship with the Austrian Armed Forces. The application deadline is the end of February.
