After an extensive review by the procurement office of the Bundeswehr procurement office, the deployable air defence command post has now been handed back to the German Air Force.
The Deployable Control and Reporting Center (DCRC) is the only deployable command post in the Air Force’s operational command service and has been in operation there for more than 15 years. However, some components have become outdated over time. To bring the DCRC back up to date with the latest technological developments, the heart of the system, the so-called command and control system, has now been completely overhauled and is once again available to the Air Force in the latest generation for airspace surveillance. https://militaeraktuell.at/neue-investitionen-in-die-ab212-helis-geplant/ The system consists of several containers with high-performance computer systems, which are functionally installed in a very confined space so that it is almost equivalent to a stationary command post in terms of its operational spectrum and complexity. Due to its deployability, the DCRC can be used worldwide and is particularly suitable for initial and stabilization operations. The DCRC can be used to control airspace and tactically direct air forces. In the event of a threat situation, the command post also manages the tactical deployment of fighter aircraft and anti-aircraft missiles. The importance of the system for the air force is underlined by the deployment of the DCRC in March to July as part of the Baltic Air Policing Boost (VAPB) as a German contribution to integrated NATO air defense in Estonia.
