Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) for its short-range mobile air defense system (MSHORAD). The contract was signed at the end of last year and runs until 2026 – with an order value of around 26 million euros.
FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces will use the acquired system in two different configurations. Both variants will be integrated into the BvS10 armored vehicle to further enhance Sweden’s mobile air defense. https://militaeraktuell.at/bundesheer-feiert-tag-der-wehrpflicht/ “We are proud that our Swedish customer has chosen Saab’s short-range mobile air defense solution. Our advanced solution is truly mobile and provides critical protection for the armed forces on the battlefield,” says Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab’s Dynamics business area. Saab’s MSHORAD is a vehicle-integrated system that can quickly and effectively identify, engage and neutralize airborne threats, including UAVs and armored helicopters. The system consists of a mobile radar unit based on the Giraffe 1X radar and a mobile fire unit based on the RBS 70 NG, all linked to Saab’s GBAD C2 ground-based air defense solution.
