The military IT specialist Blackned will be presenting Tactical Core, a new solution for critical communication and data exchange, at the DSEI arms fair in London in mid-September. In combination with the company’s software portfolio, the aim is to connect the forces involved on the battlefield into a digital network that enables the fast and secure exchange of information.
The current events surrounding the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine have shown how important the networked and secure transmission of rapidly available information is – and this is particularly true for the forward battlefield. According to the company, Blackned closes “this gap” and offers a digital network for the exchange of information at tactical level, from brigade level downwards. This ensures “effective interoperability with existing digital and analog radio technologies as well as the integration of new devices”. https://militaeraktuell.at/eine-zweite-black-hawk-staffel-fuer-das-bundesheer/ The press release continues: “The introduction of more information, equipment, technologies and systems on the battlefield means that the overall network becomes very complex. This raises the challenge of how to operate and maintain such a complex network, especially during deployment.” To meet this challenge, Tactical Core relies on several of the company’s other IT solutions:
- The Xonitor software is the monitoring and management tool,
- Ridux is a reliable and efficient data and communication infrastructure, and
- MeshFlow enables seamless connectivity, even when soldiers move dynamically from one operational area to another.
As a digital network, Ridux enables the exchange of information at a tactical level, i.e. in the military organization from brigade level downwards. The brigade and its units, which consist of around 5,600 soldiers and hundreds of armored and other vehicles, can thus perform operational tasks independently and fight in conjunction with other forces. “Ridux creates a highly secure, dynamic and self-organizing communication infrastructure that ensures a common situational picture at all levels,” says Timo Haas, CEO and founder of Blackned. “Time advantages through faster communication can save lives.” Tactical Core is approved by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for data transmission up to the “NATO Restricted” level, thus guaranteeing secure and authorized communication. Haas concludes: “What is also particularly interesting is that customers have direct access to the source code and therefore have control over the software without being dependent on a service provider.”
