Saab has received an order from the US Navy for a Double Eagle Semi-Autonomous Remotely Operated Vehicle (SAROV) for the Kuwaiti Naval Forces. Saab’s Autonomous and Undersea Systems business area will manufacture parts of this system in cooperation with other production facilities in Sweden, the United Kingdom and Denmark.

The Double Eagle family of underwater vehicles is a safe and proven ROV system used by navies around the world to support mine countermeasure (MCM) missions. In the SAROV configuration, the vehicle can be used as an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) for detection, classification and identification, as well as an ROV for mine clearance. The US Navy is procuring this system as part of a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program for the State of Kuwait Naval Forces. https://militaeraktuell.at/rheinmetall-treibt-panther-entwicklung-voran/ “Saab’s journey in the Middle East has grown over the years.
