A few days ago, more than 250 guests from politics, the clergy, business and the military attended the New Year’s reception of the 3rd Jägerbrigade in the Römerhalle in Mautern.
The Commander of the 3rd Jäger Brigade, Brigadier Christian Habersatter, welcomed Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf, the Commander of the Land Forces and Special Operations Forces, Major General Martin Dorfer, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Federal Ministry of Defense, Colonel Peter Schrottwieser, religious dignitaries and other guests of honor. A special greeting was extended to all partners, friends, patrons and supporters of the “Third”. In his review of the year, Brigadier Habersatter emphasized the special achievements of the soldiers in foreign missions, exercises, domestic deployments and during training. Habersatter also pointed out that the 3rd Jägerbrigade strives to fulfill ongoing tasks at home and abroad in the best possible way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrzC9ATnn2A As is customary at the New Year’s reception of the “Third”, deserving soldiers of the brigade were honored:
- Captain Mario Pronhagl from Jägerbataillon 19 was honored as a “role model commander”,
- Vice-Lieutenant Manfred Weißensteiner from the Melk Pioneers was honored for the category “Exemplary NCO”,
- Private Verena Unterreiner of Jäger Battalion 17 received an award as a “role model of the militia”,
- Deputy Officer Roland Heiß from the staff battalion was honored as a “role model in logistics”,
- This year, the coveted Innovation Award went to Chief Constable Thomas Tropper from Jägerbataillon 17 and
- In the sporting field, Brigadier Habersatter congratulated Jägerbataillon 33 on winning the “Brigade Champion 2022” title and presented them with the coveted challenge cup.
The commander concluded by pointing out the current threat situation and the prevailing conflict hotspots in and around Europe and the resulting need to focus the brigade on its core military capability.
