Last Friday, in front of their families and friends, 40 soldiers from the August 2021 enlistment date in Landeck pledged to serve the Austrian people and the Republic of Austria.

In his speech, the military commander of Tyrol, Brigadier Ingo Gstrein, emphasized the importance of the Austrian Armed Forces as a guarantor of security. “As soldiers, you make a contribution to the protection of the population,” Brigadier Gstrein told the honorees.

Most of the soldiers who have been sworn in are now heading to the Lizum/Walchen military training area. Over the coming months, they will support the internationally renowned mountain training of the Austrian high mountain infantry at the highest training area of the Austrian Armed Forces. “Life as a soldier, but also life in our society, is a constant change of highs and lows,” pointed out the Protestant military pastor Oliver Gross, and gave God’s blessing to the soldiers. Soldiers who will now begin their training as military musicians were also sworn in. The Tyrolean military band, which was also deployed during contact tracing due to the coronavirus situation in Tyrol, provided the backdrop to the ceremony and welcomed the new comrades.
