Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and the Dutch procurement agency DMO (Defence Material Organization) have signed a contract for the upgrade of 322 Fennek vehicles.

The MLU (Mid Life Update) contract is worth more than 300 million euros and includes the integration of new observation and reconnaissance systems (BAA II NDL) and the integration of the C4I command and control system. The work will be carried out by KMW in Germany and the Netherlands, by partner companies Van Halteren Defence and Nedinsco in cooperation with the army’s Material Stock Logistic Command (MatLogCo). Delivery of the upgraded Fennek systems will begin in 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2027. The Fennek is a bi-national project between Germany and the Netherlands; in addition to the reconnaissance vehicle, there is also an engineer vehicle and a variant for anti-tank and highly mobile air defense. What they all have in common is a high level of off-road mobility thanks to the special drive concept and the robust design of the chassis.
