A few days ago in Saalfelden, 16 new army mountain guides were decorated after an intensive 37-week course. The training comprised a total of 1,522 hours and took place in both summer and winter. The participants came from Austria, Germany and Belgium.
The Mountain Combat Centre in Saalfelden – in cooperation with the training base for mountain and winter combat in Mittenwald, Bavaria – offered a comprehensive program. International cooperation also strengthens camaraderie and the success of joint military operations. After successfully completing the course, the new army mountain commanders can expect challenging tasks. Their training has prepared them perfectly for the difficult conditions in the mountains.
