Auterion, manufacturer of an open operating system for the control of autonomous robotic systems, and Blackned GmbH, which provides a core element for the digitalization of land forces with its Tactical Core Middleware, are entering into a strategic partnership to develop an integrated technology for the integration and control of UxV in the digital battlefield.
According to a joint press release from the two companies, the aim of this partnership is “to integrate Auterion’s manufacturer-independent control software for autonomous robotic systems into the information and communication network of the digital battlefield”. This should enable faster distribution of reconnaissance data and the acceleration of the reconnaissance/effect chain through the integration of UxV into the Tactical Core system network. This means that the control and management of UxV is no longer limited to manufacturer-specific systems, but can be taken over via a common platform from different starting and position points on the battlefield in accordance with the software-defined defense (SDD) principle. https://militaeraktuell.at/arquus-gruppe-praesentiert-drailer-plattform/ As the statement goes on to say, the two companies want to achieve the following goals as part of their collaboration:
- Extension of the Tactical Core portfolio:
The addition includes the porting of the Tactical Core runtime environment and the supported communication links to the Auterion Skynode as well as the integration with the Auterion Operating System (AuterionOS) and Auterion Mission Control (AMC).
- Efficient and secure integration of UxVs:
The overall solution is intended to create the necessary basis for the secure and efficient control of UxVs in the digital battlefield. To this end, the partners want to establish an overarching platform for the digitalization of land forces. - Innovation for the international market:
Auterion and blackned are also planning to jointly market the solution in both the NATO and global defense and security markets. This also includes continuous further development in order to always meet the requirements.
In the coming weeks, demonstrations of the solution will be carried out for potential customers. The aim is to illustrate the added value of the system and highlight possible next steps for integration into existing systems.
