The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has awarded Airbus Helicopters to lead a concept study as part of the Next Generation Rotorcraft Capability project (NGRC), in which the participants are working together on the design, development and delivery of a medium multi-role helicopter.

Airbus is collaborating with RTX companies Collins Aerospace and Raytheon as well as MBDA on the 13-month study, which is analyzing two integrated concepts for next-generation military rotorcraft. “Participating in this NATO study for the next generation of military rotorcraft provides a unique opportunity to leverage our experience in working with the various European armed forces,” said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “This project will be fully interoperable with other NATO assets. With our experience in civil and military helicopter manufacturing, we are confident that we at Airbus Helicopters have the right cost-effective, high-performance and operationally efficient solutions for the next generation of military rotorcraft.” https://militaeraktuell.at/knds-weitere-leopard-2-kampfpanzer-fuer-ungarn/ Through the various partner companies, the nations involved in the project are France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland and Italy. The partners will contribute to the study in the following areas of expertise: helicopter design, system integration, connectivity, weapons and effectors, avionics and sensors. The focus of the study is on high-performance rotorcraft. The concepts should be modular, multi-mission capable and fully interoperable with NATO standards. NSPA Executive Director Stacy A. Cummings said the launch of the concept study is a significant milestone for the NGRC concept phase activities. It also demonstrates NSPA’s commitment to meeting the challenge of the next generation of medium helicopters for participating nations.
