Saab North America, a US subsidiary of Saabhas received a subpoena from the US Department of Justice (DoJ). The DoJ has requested information about the Brazilian government’s purchase of 36 Gripen E/F fighter jets for the Brazilian Air Force. The contract was signed in 2014.

These investigations have been completed without any misconduct by Saab being found.” Saab does not wish to provide any further information at this time “due to confidentiality obligations”. Brazil’s order consists of 28 Gripen E (single-seater) and eight two-seater Gripen F, which have been successively handed over to the Brazilian Air Force since the end of 2021

. Ursprünglich hatte Saab keinen Doppelsitzer (Gripen F) der neuesten Gripen-Version vorgesehen. Brasilien wünschte aber Doppelsitzer und zeichnet als Gripen-Programmpartner massgeblich für die Entwicklung des Doppelsitzers verantwortlich.
