Diehl Defense has broken ground for a site expansion in Nonnweiler. A building for the production of guided missiles and a technical center for the energy supply of the Maasberg site will be built on the site of the ground-breaking ceremony. Together with the Mariahütte plant, Maasberg forms the Nonnweiler site of Diehl Defence.

The company has already significantly increased the volume of its business activities in recent years and is required to further expand its capacities in order to meet the continuing increase in demand.

The growth is also reflected in the number of employees: while the Diehl Defence subgroup employed just under 2,800 people in 2021, it currently employs over 4,400.

The event took place in the presence of representatives of the Saarland state government, led by Jürgen Barke, Deputy Minister President and Minister of Economic Affairs of Saarland, and Petra Berg, Minister of the Environment. District Administrator Udo Recktenwald, Mayor Franz Josef Barth and the Managing Director of the regional property developer OBG Group, Thomas Penner, also took part in the ground-breaking ceremony, which was performed by Thomas Bodenmüller, Member of the Divisional Board and CFO of Diehl Defence, together with Ralf Schlaak, Site Manager Nonnweiler.

In addition to the two buildings for which the ground-breaking ceremony was held today, Diehl Defence is planning to expand its site in Saarland with further buildings on the Maasberg and in Mariahütte.
