Last Friday, 90 recruits took their oath of allegiance to the Republic of Austria at the Krobatin barracks. The soldiers will perform their service in various functions with the Command Support Battalion 2.
The battalion commander, Colonel Johannes Nussbaumer, paid special tribute to the recruits for their willingness to serve in the armed forces and thus make a valuable contribution to public safety.
“In the military, you will experience the basic soldierly virtues such as comradeship, discipline, bravery and self-control. These virtues and values are constantly demanded in the course of your training, as well as during exercises and deployments, thus ensuring success. The military often means a high degree of resilience, flexibility, teamwork, courage, bravery and humility. But the military also means learning tolerance and working together to achieve something for the community and for society,” said Colonel Nussbaumer in his speech. The religious part was introduced by a chorale and the blessing was given by military superior Richard Weyringer and military pastor Oliver Gross. With the words “I pledge”, the 90 soldiers took their oath to the Republic of Austria, thereby affirming their service in the Austrian Armed Forces. After the climax of the swearing-in ceremony, the ceremony was officially concluded by the Salzburg military band playing the national anthem.
