The 7th Jäger Brigade of the Austrian Armed Forces has been given a new name and a new look. From now on, it is called the “7th Jägerbrigade Jagdkampf” and symbolizes its reorientation with a new beret color: beige.
With its headquarters in the Oberst Georg Goëss barracks in Klagenfurt, the brigade is the central troop command in Carinthia and is responsible for battalions in Carinthia, Styria and Lower Austria. Since 2021, the brigade has been under the command of the Operations Directorate in Graz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTF0YhsjDHY
Modernization and further development
The 7th Jäger Brigade is being further developed into a highly mobile and mission-oriented unit with special capabilities in accordance with the Austrian Armed Forces’ “2032+ Development Plan”. The vision: In future, the brigade will be able to control large operational areas of up to 150 x 150 kilometers and act as a military force on the ground and from the air. This approach, characterized by a high level of reconnaissance and offensive power, forms the basis for “hunting combat” – a concept that relies on strategic initiative through data-driven operational command.
The brigade’s new beret in beige
A new beret color was chosen to show the new orientation of the 7th Jägerbrigade Jagdkampf to the outside world: Beige, typical internationally for units with a special operational spectrum. This is a clear sign of modernization and the brigade’s new, specialized tasks. Jäger Battalion 25 in Klagenfurt, on the other hand, will retain its traditional red beret, and Reconnaissance and Artillery Battalion 7 will also retain its black beret.
New association badge and banderole for the Jägerbrigade Jagdkampf
The brigade’s new badge symbolizes its affiliation to the Jägerbrigade Jagdkampf through its beige color and modern design: the number seven is based on the logo of the “∑Mission Vorwärts” initiative, which symbolizes the creation of this badge. The design element of the wing shape emphasizes the connection to air mobility. In addition, symbols such as the crossguard of the sword and the shape of the tactical drone symbol refer to the integration of classic combat skills with drone technology. The banderole underneath with the words “Jagdkampf” is reserved exclusively for members of the brigade and makes the special focus of the brigade visible. https://militaeraktuell.at/sonderschutzfahrzeuge-achleitner-made-in-tirol/
Responsibility for battalions in three federal states
In Carinthia, the command of the 7th Jägerbrigade Jagdkampf leads the Staff Battalion 7, the Jäger Battalion 25 in Klagenfurt and the Pioneer Battalion 1 in Villach. In addition, the command is responsible for Jäger Battalion 18 in Styria, Reconnaissance and Artillery Battalion 7 in Feldbach, the NBC Defense Company of Staff Battalion 7 in Graz and Jäger Battalion 12 in Lower Austria. The brigade thus combines traditional military capabilities with state-of-the-art technology for information gathering, in particular using drones.
