On the night of February 22-23, a garrison ball was held again in the venerable ambience of the Martin Barracks after a break of several years. This was made possible by the Association of Friends of the Martin Barracks under the leadership of Colonel Martin Jaidl. It was supported by cadre soldiers from the Burgenland Military Command, the Army Troop School and soldiers from the militia.

Host Brigadier Gernot Gasser was also in a good mood.

Numerous guests of honor from politics, business and the military accepted the invitation of Burgenland’s military commander Brigadier Gernot Gasser and Brigadier Jürgen Baranyai, commander of the Army Troop School. Both were delighted to welcome around 2,300 guests. Among them were Secretary General Wolfgang Baumann, Military Bishop Werner Freistetter, Member of Parliament Manfred Haidinger, Mayor of the Free City of Eisenstadt Thomas Steiner and State Police Director Martin Huber. In addition, the partners of the Army Troop School were represented by Rainer Ribing, Director of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce, and partners of the Burgenland Military Command were represented by Alois Ecker and Michael Gerbavsits, Director and Spokesman of the Board of Energie Burgenland.

Secretary General Dr. Wolfgang Baumann was among the prominent ball visitors.

The ballroom, decorated with great attention to detail, attracted guests to dance for hours. A duet by the Burgenland military band played for the 2,300 ball guests in the ballroom. Entertainment was provided by the Rockys on the Wies’n and DJ Cosmic created a great atmosphere in the BVZ disco. The shooting range on the 2nd floor was very popular and guests could try their luck in the Casino Royal of the Army Troop School. The net proceeds will be donated to a charitable project. The highlights of the evening were the performance by “Pipes and Drums” with an impressive opening march and a successful midnight performance, as well as the beautifully designed polonaise led by Ms. Andrea Hodinar.
