Rheinmetall Air Defense based in Zurich, not only produces the Skyranger air defense tower, but also offers an automated system of detectors and effectors with the Skyguard, Skynex and Skymaster components. The company focused early on the development of hardware and software for ground-based air defense and is now a leader when it comes to detecting and defending against drones.
Militär Aktuell reporter Stefan Tesch was able to take a look behind the scenes at Rheinmetall’s Oerlikon plant and talk to experts from the German arms manufacturer about drone and air defense, the challenges involved and the technology behind Skyranger and Co.
