Streamlight presents the new Sidewinder X, which offers hands-free operation, many light options and a strong housing in a small space. Here are the details. The Sidewinder X from Streamlight comes with some solid features. First of all, the swivel head (185°) and the clip, which allows mounting on the corresponding helmet adapters, PALS loops and belts, are striking.

According to Streamlight, the lens is unbreakable. It also has a scratch-resistant coating and is sealed. The entire housing of the Sidewinder X is also robust: it was tested with impacts of three meters. Thanks to IPX7 protection, the light can withstand 30 minutes in water at a depth of one meter. This should be sufficient for the vast majority of applications for which the Sidewinder X is selected. The Sidewinder X is available in three versions: For the military, it has white, red and blue light as well as IR LEDs. The aviation model replaces the red light with a green light. In the user-defined model, there is a choice of two colors in addition to the white light and the IR LED. The additional mounting options also differ (see gallery). The power supply in conjunction with the light options is also exciting: The Sidewinder X runs on either two AA batteries or one CR123A. The light intensity is increased in several stages and switched to the dazzling strobe effect. 275 lumens shine in white light at the strongest level for almost five hours (AA batteries) or three hours (CR123), in the strongest LED mode it is already 50 (AA) and 30 (CR123) hours, in the weakest LED level it is over 300 (AA) or over 200 hours (CR123). @Military News Operation in poor lighting conditions is made easier by some raised and tactile elements, for example the polarity of the batteries can be felt, which helps when replacing them. There is also a twist lock to prevent unintentional adjustment of the settings.
