Milrem Robotics is showcasing its new 8×8 Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) Havoc at IDEX 2025. According to the company, it is “one of the most technically advanced hybrid unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) of the next generation” and is set to revolutionize modern combat operations.

At the heart of the Havoc is an advanced hybrid-electric drivetrain that provides increased range and near-silent maneuverability. These features improve stealth and make the vehicle adaptable to different mission requirements. The vehicle’s development, procurement and maintenance costs have been reduced due to the sharing of subsystems with other Milrem Robotics platforms.

“The Havoc RCV is designed to provide unprecedented agility and high-speed maneuverability, allowing commanders to effectively deploy their forces over long distances,” said Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics. “Its robust design and advanced hybrid propulsion system allow for the integration of large caliber weapons while maintaining precision and superior lethality on the battlefield.”

The RCV weighs significantly less than conventional manned 8×8 vehicles and has good off-road capabilities, making it effective even in rough terrain. The aforementioned electric drivetrain delivers instant torque, enabling faster response times and improved mobility. In addition, the vehicle’s steering allows for a reduced turning radius, ensuring optimal maneuverability in environments ranging from open deserts and urban combat zones to high-altitude mountain passes.

The 8×8 RCV is designed for a basic payload capacity of five tons and offers flexibility for the integration of mission-specific payloads or weapon systems. Modifications within this payload limit do not affect the vehicle’s performance, allowing it to adapt to operational requirements. In addition, the Havoc works with a unified autonomy ecosystem that is also aligned with Milrem’s existing platforms, ensuring compatibility and scalability for a variety of autonomous solutions.

“With the introduction of the 8×8 RCV, we are setting a new standard for unmanned ground combat systems,” said Henrik Kotkas, Chief Product Officer at Milrem Robotics. “This platform combines cutting-edge technology with practical design considerations to offer unrivaled operational capabilities. It is an example of our commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of modern armed forces.”
