Diehl Defense and Hensoldt have agreed to intensify their cooperation in the field of ground-based air defense at this year’s Paris Air Show in France.

The aim of the collaboration is to further develop the following areas: AI-based target recognition in the TRML-4D fire control radar, the fusion of sensor data from a wide range of sources as well as AI-supported environment perception, planning algorithms and simulation techniques.

Oliver Dörre, CEO of Hensoldt, says: “Digital technologies – keyword ‘software-defined defence’ – are increasingly making it possible to network existing capabilities, roll out software-based modernizations and significantly shorten development cycles. We are pooling the expertise of two high-tech companies whose products are regarded as benchmarks worldwide. With the joint development of software-defined systems, we are significantly increasing the defensive effectiveness of air defense and thus contributing to the development of a sovereign European defense capability.”
