How the German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems announced in a statement a few days ago that it has successfully completed a Series B financing round that raised more than 60 million euros. With this additional funding, the company plans to further expand its market share in the field of AI-supported drone robotics.

With the current financing round, total investments now amount to more than 100 million euros. The companies involved include Thiel Capital, Airbus Ventures, Omnes Capital and ScaleUp Fonds Bayern. The company’s product catalog includes dual-use drones developed and produced in-house, which are sold to both government and commercial customers. The drones are equipped with state-of-the-art multi-sensor technology. Quantum Systems CEO Florian Seibel says of the company’s mission: “In the face of ever-changing global challenges, Quantum Systems recognizes the need for a flexible bottom-up approach. This approach fosters innovation and adaptability and allows Europe to preserve its democratic values while promoting and utilizing breakthrough technologies that drive progress.” https://militaeraktuell.at/auslandseinsaetze-des-bundesheeres-verlaengert/ At the end of September, Quantum Systems was awarded a contract by the German Armed Forces procurement team BAAINBw order for the delivery of 14 Vector VTOL UAS (Unmanned Area Systems) for the FALKE system (remotely piloted reconnaissance system, airborne, short range) for the special forces of the German Armed Forces. The company has also been successful in the US Department of Defense’s Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT) program and was awarded a grant of USD 20 million (around EUR 18.6 million) by the US Special Forces Command (USSOCOM). The Vector reconnaissance drone is most commonly used in the Ukraine war. Already the first 33 systems were delivered to Ukraine in August 2022this number has now increased to almost 430 systems. Above all, the Vector drone’s high resistance to electronic warfare means and the resulting survivability are responsible for the growing demand for the system.
