The focus of this year’s strategic talks between the Armed Forces and the Chamber of Commerce, which took place on November 27, focused on the defense industry. In the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Chief of the General Staff, General Rudolf Striedinger, and Major General Harald Vodosek led the talks.
Afterwards, General Rudolf Striedinger and the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Wolfgang Hesoun, invited guests to the “Economy and the Armed Forces” reception at the Federal Ministry of Defense.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “In addition to ‘Comprehensive National Defense’, ‘Economic National Defense’ is also of great importance. Issues of resilience, self-sufficiency and sustainability are key factors for future cooperation between industry and the armed forces and are therefore an important part of the strategic exchange. It is in our interest to secure the domestic defense industry, to enter into close cooperation with it and to strengthen it. I am pleased that the strategic talks ensure an exchange between experts from the Ministry of Defense and industry.”
The agenda for the strategic talks included the current status of the “Reconstruction Plan 2032+”, security and economic policy developments and the development of the armed forces’ capabilities. armed forces. During the talks, Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner also emphasized the importance of the Austrian defence industry in the current security policy situation.
The partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and the Austrian Armed Forces has existed for many years. Such cooperation between business and the military has a long tradition and is intended to deepen the relationship between the army and the population and increase the acceptance of military national defense.
