Due to the increased number of infections and the associated intensive contact tracing, the infection team in Dornbirn received reinforcements for contact tracing at the request of the Vorarlberg state government. Depending on daily requirements, between ten and 40 soldiers from the Vorarlberg military command are deployed.

The support began on September 18 and will initially last until October 23. If necessary, the deployment will be extended. Constable Andreas S. is a non-commissioned officer in the Vorarlberg military band and has been deployed to provide support. “Our tasks vary in detail. Essentially, we work on computers to record and manage contacts, and we make phone calls. We received several days of training for our tasks and the computer programs,” says the young non-commissioned officer, explaining the soldiers’ tasks. Eva Oberhauser is a medical technician and tracer. She has been with the Vorarlberg infection team since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. She has been working with the soldiers since March 2020. “The soldiers are an important help for us. They learn quickly, are flexible and thorough in their implementation. It’s fun to work with them.”
