In mid-November, around 20 militia soldiers took part in a 36-hour special weapons exercise conducted by the Army Troop School. The realistic scenarios at the Bruckneudorf military training area made a significant contribution to increasing the operational readiness and specialist skills of the militia. The participation of soldiers from the Tyrol militia fighter battalion is particularly noteworthy, as an exercise in this form is also planned for them in the future.
From firefighting to transporting the wounded – intensive training for deployment
After the official welcome at the Army Troop School, the soldiers completed an intensive and closely timed training program under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Klaus Stockinger. Professional and targeted training support was provided by experienced teaching officers and non-commissioned officers from the “Jäger” institute.

The focus was on close combat exercises under changing conditions. In addition, the soldiers trained in transporting the wounded as part of self-help and comrade assistance, “life in the field” using combat rations and position building, including camouflage measures. Realistic firefighting exercises from the established positions rounded off the program and provided a holistic training environment.
Modern equipment ensures practical training
In addition to the combat scenarios in the field, the soldiers also put their skills to the test during an orientation march at night and in individual combat shooting at the shooting ranges and on the shooting simulator.
The equipment used included the 77 A1 MOD assault rifle, adapted to the extended requirements of modern deployment scenarios, the 80 pistol and the 3D night vision goggles. The combination of modern equipment and realistic training content ensured comprehensive preparation for the militia soldiers’ future military careers.
