Recently Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace from the US Marine Corps a long lead time parts contract that signals the start of series production for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle 30 Millimeter program (ACV-30). The contract, valued at 48.2 million euros, includes subcomponents for the 30-millimeter remote-controlled turret.
The order is part of an “undefinite contract action” worth up to 311 million euros for the procurement of the medium MCT-30. Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, was pleased about the order: “This agreement is an important milestone for the US Marine Corps ACV-30 program and enables rapid deliveries as soon as series production starts. We are pleased that the US Marine Corps has selected Kongsberg’s state-of-the-art 30-millimeter Protector remote turret system for the program.” https://militaeraktuell.at/schweiz-ende-kunstflugstaffel-patrouille-suisse/ The ACV-30 is equipped with a stabilized, remote-controlled, medium-caliber turret (MCT-30) from Kongsberg. This is designed to provide the Marines with the necessary protection while allowing sufficient space for troop capacity and payload. The space requirements of conventional turrets are eliminated by the remote control option. This provides more space for the transportation of troops or mission-critical equipment right from the start. At the same time, the weight is reduced to improve mobility. In addition, the contract includes training and maintenance as well as wireless fire control and the possible integration of future technologies and effectors. The decision was was preceded by extensive tests.
