Recently, the US Army at the Maneuver Warfighter Conference in Fort Moore, Georgia, conducted several successful firing missions using U.S. mortar ammunition with the Patria Nemo 120 millimeter turreted mortar system. This mortar system was integrated into an American-made Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) and a Fire Direction System (FCD).

In future, the US Army wants to equip the armored and Stryker Brigade Combat Teams with fast, precise, indirect and direct fire capabilities. At the same time, the operators should be well protected and their physical stress and the effects of the firefight on the body (pressure, noise) should be significantly reduced. For this reason, Patria has been conducting a feasibility study for the Patria Nemo turret mortar system with the US Army since 2020, which also included Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT). The test at the conference is the preliminary culmination of this. https://militaeraktuell.at/generalmajor-sommer-neue-leutnante-bundesheer/ “We are very pleased with the results of our successful collaboration with the US Army and our industry partners to date. Given the global interest in Patria Nemo’s unique capabilities, we look forward to continuing discussions with the US on next steps and ultimately making Patria Nemo available to the US Armed Forces to enhance their survivability, combat power and maneuverability,” said Janne Räkköläinen, Senior Vice President, Market Area World at Patria. Patria Nemo is a remote-controlled 120-millimeter mortar system that is suitable for both direct and indirect fire – even on the move. The system is capable of firing up to six rounds simultaneously at the target (multiple rounds simultaneous impact, MRSI). The system is not only well protected, but also light and compact and can be installed on light tracked vehicles, armored wheeled vehicles or naval vessels.
