Colonel Nussbaumer emphasized the importance of tradition.

In his speech, Colonel Johannes Nussbaumer emphasized the importance of tradition: “Tradition is an essential factor in the Austrian Armed Forces’ corporate identity. Remembrance days, honoring the dead, paying tribute to those who died in the wars and other events are a matter of course and are carried out with commitment. Tradition is the passing on of traditions from one generation to the next and the next. In this sense, it creates order and is fundamental for present, future-oriented and future action. In addition to social values, the traditions handed down by the military include in particular soldierly values and virtues such as a sense of duty, obedience, courage, bravery, loyalty, humanity and, last but not least, faith.” https://militaeraktuell.at/gdels-steyr-macht-bei-der-fennek-nachfolge-ernst/ New challenges and threats
The first part of the ceremony focused on remembering the special achievements of the former telegraph troops and the speeches by the battalion commander and the head of the ICT and cyber operations department. In his speech, Colonel Johannes Nussbaumer referred to the special risks Austria is confronted with. Colonel Nussbaumer: “In order to be able to assert itself in a future conflict, the Republic of Austria will make investments in personnel, the operation of the Armed Forces and, above all, in material equipment and infrastructure. The overall combat strength of the Austrian Armed Forces must be increased. With a view to future threats, the Austrian Armed Forces must be capable of ‘comprehensive combat’ for the military defense of the country by being able to deploy all branches of the armed forces and branches of the armed forces in combination.”
