The takeover of Steyr Arms by the Czech RSBC Invesment Group marks a significant turning point in the Austrian and European defense industry. At the center of the deal is Arex CEO Tim Castagne, who will now also take over the management of Steyr Arms and who has big plans for the traditional red-white-red company, as he revealed to Militär Aktuell.
Castagne can look back on more than three decades of experience in the defense industry, having held leading positions at renowned companies such as Sig Sauer and Heckler & Koch.

The link between Arex and Steyr Arms under the aegis of the RSBC Group is to be strengthened by a clear vision for the future of the two companies, as Castagne emphasizes. “The successful acquisition of Steyr Arms enables us to offer a comprehensive portfolio and respond to the challenges of our time. We are thus strengthening the European defense industry as well as the central production sites in Austria and Slovenia.” Castagne expects synergies above all from the combination of Steyr Arms’ US representation and Arex’s ability to be the only foreign company to hold manufacturing licenses in Brazil. “This has significantly expanded our international sales channels and production capacities.” Castagne emphasizes the complementary strengths of both companies. While Arex is known for its innovations in the field of non-lethal systems and sporting firearms and also manufactures products for other brands, Steyr Arms brings a long tradition and a strong brand in the field of high-quality long guns. “This combination greatly expands our offering and allows us to strengthen our presence in critical markets such as North America, where Steyr already has an established base.” https://militaeraktuell.at/wir-schreiben-gerade-geschichte/ As part of the integration of Steyr Arms into the RSBC Group, particular emphasis will be placed on retaining all existing employees, as the production at Steyr is considered to be “particularly lean and efficient”, says Castagne. “We are planning to expand our production capacities and strengthen our team as part of the expansion. We will also be hiring new employees in the near future in order to make even better use of the resulting potential.” When asked about possible challenges in merging the two companies, Castagne emphasizes that no major problems are expected. “The biggest challenge lies not in structural difficulties, but in optimizing communication and processes between Arex and Steyr. Our aim is to further refine the already efficient processes and to intensify cooperation through clear, coordinated communication,” he explains. Through this strategic alignment, Castagne sees synergies above all, which result from the combination of the strengths of both companies and thus pave the way for further growth and the development of new markets.

Castagne reflects on the personal significance of the takeover: “This role not only involves an expansion of my previous responsibilities, but also requires my presence in both Slovenia and Austria. I am prepared for this and look forward to driving forward our plans for expansion and growth.” In the interview, the manager also emphasized the unique opportunity that the takeover offers to create a global player in the defence sector. https://militaeraktuell.at/neues-sturmgewehr-77-a1-mod-fuer-das-heer/ “We are at the beginning of an exciting development. With the support of RSBC and thanks to the synergies created by the acquisition, we are well positioned to realize our vision of a safer world through leading defence technologies. A key element of our strategy is to leverage the strong and long-term relationships that Arex and Steyr Arms have with the governments and armed forces of their home countries. These existing contacts provide both companies with a robust platform for further growth and expansion.”

Castagne continues: “By expanding our product portfolio, the armed forces can now work with a partner that is able to cover a wider range of their needs, simplifying logistics and increasing efficiency. This combination offers significant benefits to the armed forces in terms of resource and service integration, with multiple services now available from a single source. We are striving to build a strong, diversified portfolio that is able to respond effectively to the demands and challenges of the global defense industry,” concludes Castagne with a clear vision for the future.
