Thousands of visitors accepted the invitation of the soldiers of Jäger Battalion 17 on Saturday and spent a pleasant and informative day at this year’s open day in the grounds of the Erzherzog Johann barracks in Strasbourg.

@Federal Armed Forces/Robert Gießauf From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public had the opportunity to see the capabilities of the Austrian Armed Forces for themselves. Tanks and combat vehicles, a drummer group of the Styrian military music, elements of the military police, artillery Feldbach, a hands-on weapons and equipment show and dynamic demonstrations were presented to the guests in an impressive way. A cross-country drive with the Pandur wheeled tank or the daring maneuvers of the model aircraft were a highlight for many.

@Federal Armed Forces/Robert Gießauf The military partner units of the Straß soldiers from Marienberg in Germany and from nearby Marburg were of course also present with crew and equipment. The guests were spoiled with culinary delights in the Gusto-Meile and in the cozy Buschenschank. The shady coffee house offered relaxation. And there was also a varied program for the youngest visitors in the children’s adventure park. A ride on the merry-go-round and forcing their way up the climbing wall made children’s eyes light up.
