The training company of Armored Staff Battalion 4 is normally responsible for training prospective professional soldiers. However, the soldiers from Freistadt naturally also use times when no training is taking place at the training company to train themselves – most recently at the Hochfilzen military training area at the beginning of February.
Officers and non-commissioned officers faced a wide variety of challenges in the mountains. Highlights included overcoming rough terrain with snowshoes, setting up makeshift shelters and group combat shooting in which all the weapons of a Jäger company were used. The Panzerstabsbataillon 4 ensures the deployment of the 4th Panzergrenadierbrigade, particularly in the area of command and operational support. The battalion is also responsible for defending against nuclear, biological and chemical threats. The soldiers of the training company are also responsible for training professional and militia soldiers.
