Since Monday, soldiers from the 3rd Jäger Brigade have been practicing together at the Allentsteig military training area. The training is intended to improve cooperation between combat support soldiers and infantry (e.g. for experts in explosive ordnance defense and NBC defense), but also to help improve the operational command of infantry in built-up areas. In addition, operational support on the battlefield is practiced for recovery and medical tasks.

The majority of the conscripts who enlisted in October 2021 are currently on assistance missions at the national border or abroad. The exercise at the Allentsteig military training area will be carried out with the remaining soldiers of the brigade under the leadership of Brigade Commander Brigadier Christian Habersatter.

The 3rd Jäger Brigade (Rapid Forces Brigade) is characterized in the Austrian Armed Forces by the fact that it can react particularly quickly to crises. The brigade can deploy reaction forces very quickly, especially in the event of threats in an urban environment – i.e. in cities and settlements. However, the 3rd Jäger Brigade also plays an important role in the Armed Forces’ missions abroad, including playing a leading role in providing the Austrian contribution to the EU Battlegroups. In addition to these tasks, the soldiers also ensure the training of conscripts, militia soldiers, cadre candidates and the further training of their own cadre personnel.
