This year’s “Teknofest” will take place at Adana Şakirpaşa Airport in Turkey from October 2 to 6. This is a technology and aviation festival with the aim of getting young people excited about technological developments and innovations. And to achieve this, the most modern Turkish drones currently available will also be on display – from TB3 to Akinci to Anka-3.

Launched in 2018 by the T3 Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Technology, “Teknofest” is organized with Turkey’s most important institutions and organizations (Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Education, Digital Transformation Office, …) and many universities whose main objectives are to realize the National Technology Initiative and transform Turkey into a technology-oriented society.

Important pillars of the event are of course the powerful Turkish technology and defense companies, such as Havelsan, Baykar Tech, TAI, STM or Aselsan, to name but a few. Baykar Tech even offers young people an innovation room in its own OIC (Open Innovation Center) so that they can fully develop their projects there. During the last visit of Militär Aktuell to Baykar Tech, we were told that the youngest minds working on their projects there are twelve years old.

In addition to lots of information and competitions, this event also includes a static display with vehicles, helicopters and airplanes. The highlight will be the daily air show. The single-engine training and light ground attack aircraft Hurjet from TAI and the Atak-2 combat helicopter, which is currently still in the test phase, will also be on display in the skies above Adana. However, the highlight of the program will certainly be the first public appearance of the Anka-3 stealth drone (-> Anka-3 takes off for the first time) at an air show. The Flying Display will also feature the Akinci drone (-> Saudi Arabia: Baykar announces major Akinci order), Bayraktar TB2 (-> Turkey puts first TB2 out of service) and TB3 will be on display. But the program also includes “traditional” aircraft, such as solo Turkish pilot Murat Keleş with his fantastic F-16 display, the Turkish Stars, Turkish Sikorsky S-70s, as well as the backbone of the Turkish KC-135 tanker fleet.

Not in the flight program this year is the UCAV Baykayr Kizilelma, whose prototype was on display at the “Teknofest” last year. At that time, Kizilelma appeared in a joint flight with the Turkish Stars and also flew laps in the skies over Istanbul with Solo Türk.
