Every year, the Dutch foundation World Press Photo selects the best press photos of the year. This year, Peruvian photographer Moises Saman was awarded second place in the “General News” category. In March 2013, Saman photographed a Syrian rebel making bombs in an empty building in the embattled city of Aleppo to fight against the soldiers of head of state Bashar al-Assad. This and the other award-winning images can be seen from November 7 to 30 at the Congress Center Innsbruck (www.congress-innsbruck.at) and in the book World Press Photo 14 (edited by Kari Lundelin, published by Thames & Hudson, May 2014, 16.95 euros).
