FMV (Försvarets materielverk, Swedish Armaments and Defense Technology Agency) has signed a contract with General Dynamics European Land Systems-Bridge Systems (GDELS) for nine additional Amphibious Bridge 400 systems. This is a floating bridge or ferry system that can be used to establish connections across large rivers or lakes. The current order covers around 300 meters and the first unit will be delivered to Sweden in the autumn.
The order is the exercise of an option from a previous order, which comprises a total of 25 systems for the Swedish Armed Forces between 2025 and 2027. The option, worth around 35.4 million euros, means that deliveries can now be made continuously for two years. https://militaeraktuell.at/bundesheer-tcn-und-noriker-vorgestellt/ “It is extremely positive that we have been able to exercise this option. It means that in the event of war, army units will be supplied with a rapidly built link system for more than one brigade much sooner than we thought possible. At the same time, we become GDELS’ largest customer during this period and are given a higher priority in production,” says Jonas Lotsne, Head of the Army Business Area at FMV.
